About the speakers:
Thomas Garbutt
has been in the real estate investment industry for 26 years. Tom is responsible for TIAA-CREF's global real estate activities, including acquisitions, sales, research, and portfolio and asset management. TIAA-CREF has a global real estate portfolio of $20 billion comprised of office, retail, industrial and multi-family properties.

Tom has an M.S. in Real Estate Investment from New York University and a B.S. in Business Administration from Binghamton University. He is a member of ULI, PREA, NAREIM and The Real Estate Roundtable.

James Cowan joined Morgan Stanley in 1999 and has 16 years of investment experience. He is a securities analyst responsible for providing research and analytical support for Morgan Stanley Investment Management's real estate securities investment management business. Prior to joining the Firm, he worked for Capital Trust, Inc., a specialty finance real estate company, as a Vice President in charge of underwriting.

Previously, he worked in the acquisitions departments at Tower Realty Trust and Reichmann International, where he underwrote and structured the acquisition of individual and portfolios of office properties. Jim received a B.A. from Villanova University in Finance and an M.S. from New York University in Real Estate.
